Private detective activity in Ukraine is not regulated by law, so anyone can engage in private investigation. This gives free rein to various businessmen and fraudsters posing as private investigators.
Wanting to get quick and easy money rather than a good and well-liked job, many people go to work in areas where they are obviously doomed to fail as specialists, including due to the lack of the necessary education and then experience in law enforcement. It is not uncommon for the majority of so-called ‘private detectives and detective agencies’ to organize imaginary private investigations, which result in deceiving their private and corporate clients who have turned to them for help, with the sole purpose of making ‘left-handed’ money.
All of this is nothing more than an exclusively fraudulent scheme for making money in this specific area, presenting completely far-fetched, unsubstantiated data as the result of the activities carried out. Such pseudo-detectives, who are only superficially familiar with the means and methods of operational work, or, to put it simply, have learned to speak well, conclude contracts and take money, pose as specialists, misleading and crippling the fates of people who have turned to them for help. Such ‘miracle detectives’ also include individuals who conceal their previous employment, most often posing as former operatives of special services.
